A Greek Night On The Town

We will start our evening by discovering the Plaka and Thession/Psirri areas. Then we'll visit Haritos Street near Kolonaki to bar hop and rub shoulders with Athens sophisticated arty set. We won't plan on dining until after 10 pm just like the locals, and then if we have any energy left we'll dance at one of the many hotspots. What a fun evening!

Your tour begins with a 50-minute drive to the traditional Village of Vamos. The history of the village goes back many centuries, According to historical sources, its first inhabitants were Arab pirates around the 8th century. During that time, Greece was under Turkish domination and Vamos was the headquarters of the Turkish army. People of Vamos proved to be very patriotic, fighting to free themselves from the Turkish domination and the winning battle of 1896 set Vamos and its people free. Vamos met a great development when it became the capital of Sfakia Prefecture. Today, you’ll see the distinction between luxurious "conakia" and non-luxurious houses "kamarospita" that highlights the economical level of the society.

This tour introduces you to the rural life in Aegean region. You'll visit Sirince, a beautiful Aegean village of 600 situated in the Turkish hillside. Here you will see the vast orchards and try some of the local specialties including different fruit wines. The highlight of the day will be when you are taken to the "cherry village" and are welcomed into the home of the local villagers' courtyards and served their favorite Turkish and household dishes. You'll be invited to explore the property and can even take part in the kitchen or pick fruits (seasonal). Your last stop will be at the Turkish weaving arts, carpet and handicraft village where a carpet presentation will take place.
